Lip filler used for shape correction rather than volume. Smaller doses, precise placement, and an honest conversation about what's realistic to address.

Most lip-filler conversations are about volume. This one isn't. Corrective work uses less product, placed more precisely, with the goal of softening an asymmetry rather than creating a new shape. The right candidate often leaves with a fraction of a ml.
Corrective lip filler addresses concerns that aren't about wanting bigger lips — they're about wanting more balanced ones. The treatment uses small volumes of hyaluronic acid placed at specific points to soften asymmetry, refine shape, or restore proportion that's changed over time.
It's a different conversation from first-time volume filler — different doses, different goals, often a different type of candidate. Many clients who come asking about corrective filler leave the consultation realising the asymmetry they noticed is smaller (or more natural) than they thought, and treatment isn't needed.
Where treatment is right, the result we aim for is the absence of an obvious change — your lips look balanced, your face looks like itself, and no one identifies what you've had done.
Three patterns we see often when clients ask about corrective lip filler. Each is worth a consultation; none guarantees treatment is the right call.
Soft-tissue asymmetry between the two sides — at rest or when smiling — is often the easiest to improve with precise dose placement.
Lips can change shape after significant weight loss or gain. Corrective filler can restore proportion in a way that's tied to your face's other features rather than adding generic volume.
A more defined Cupid's bow, slightly more visible vermilion border, gentle correction to a thin upper lip. Small, precise, intentional.
The three decisions that tend to define how a corrective lip filler appointment goes — and that we'll talk through with you in person.
Asymmetry can look one way at rest and different in motion. We take time at consultation to look at your lips in multiple states and identify what's genuinely asymmetric vs what's perceived from a particular angle. Photos help.
Corrective work uses less filler than volume work, placed more precisely. Often a fraction of a ml split across multiple precise points. The skill is in placement, not quantity.
Some asymmetries shouldn't be treated with filler. Skeletal or dental causes won't respond. Lips already at maximum safe volume can't accept more. And sometimes the asymmetry is simply a natural feature that filler would over-correct. We'll tell you which category yours falls into.
Some asymmetries aren't soft-tissue concerns — they're structural. Skeletal differences (jaw or facial bone), dental concerns (alignment, missing teeth, bite issues), and muscle imbalances (sometimes from previous nerve damage) can't be corrected with filler. We'll identify these in the consultation and discuss what's actually possible — sometimes that means recommending a different specialist instead.
We also won't treat lips that have already had a lot of filler placed. The tissue can only hold so much before adding more starts to distort the shape rather than refine it. If that's where we are, we'd talk through whether dissolving (hyaluronidase) and starting again is the right call — but only if that conversation is genuinely warranted.
You can read more about how we make these calls in our right to say no.
Mild swelling that peaks at around 24 hours and resolves over 3 to 7 days is typical. Small bruises at injection sites are possible and usually fade within a week. Because corrective work tends to use smaller volumes, swelling is often less marked than after volume filler.
Avoid heavy exercise, alcohol, and significant lip pressure (no straws or heavy lipstick application) for the first 24 hours. Most other normal activity is fine.
The tissue settles by around day 14. We book a brief two-week review so we can look at the symmetry together and decide whether anything needs adjusting.
The most common ones we treat: a slight unevenness between the left and right side at rest or when smiling; a thin or under-developed Cupid's bow; minor volume loss after weight change or with age; small differences in the shape of the upper vs lower lip. We'll assess what you're seeing in person — many asymmetries are real but smaller than they feel from your own mirror.
If we calibrate the dose correctly. The aim with corrective work is the absence of an obvious change — softening the asymmetry without anyone identifying that you've had filler. We deliberately under-treat where in doubt.
Honestly, both. Some asymmetries can be substantially improved by precise placement of small volumes. Others can be softened but not removed — particularly if the asymmetry is structural (bone or muscle) rather than soft-tissue. We'll be honest about what's realistic for your specific situation.
Most clients describe it as briefly uncomfortable rather than painful. We use a topical anaesthetic, and the filler contains a numbing agent. Corrective work tends to be more precise (smaller volumes at specific points) but the sensation is similar.
Around 6 to 9 months, sometimes a little longer for corrective work because we typically use less product. Your body absorbs the filler gradually, and you can choose to repeat or stop.
We book a brief two-week review so we can look at the result together. If a small adjustment would improve the symmetry, we'll do that at the follow-up. If something isn't sitting right, hyaluronic-acid-based fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase as a last resort.
Yes — if your lips are already at a volume where adding more would distort the shape, if the asymmetry is dental or skeletal in origin (lip filler can't change bone or teeth), or if I think the request is being driven by something other than the lips themselves. We'll talk that through respectfully rather than just refuse.
Book a consultation. We'll look at what you're seeing, identify what's soft-tissue vs structural, and tell you honestly whether corrective filler is the right call.
