How They Work
What skin boosters actually do
Skin boosters are hyaluronic acid (HA) — a substance the skin produces naturally — placed at depth across an area rather than as volume at specific points. HA holds many times its weight in water; placing it across the skin improves the skin's ability to retain moisture and reflect light evenly.
The result isn't volume change. It's a quality change. Skin that looked flat in photos starts to look more luminous. Makeup sits better. Fine dehydration lines soften. The face looks like it had a good night's sleep — every day, for several months.
The course is short: typically 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart. The result peaks at around 8 weeks from the first session and lasts 6 to 9 months before maintenance.

The Course
How a typical course unfolds
Skin boosters work in a defined rhythm. Two sessions four weeks apart, then maintenance — that's typically the whole plan.

Session one — the foundation
Small injections placed across the area at depth. The product activates the skin's own hydration mechanisms over the following 4 weeks. You'll likely see a subtle change within a week, with more emerging as the product takes effect.

Session two — four weeks later
The second session reinforces the response and locks in the result. After this session, the result builds for another 4–6 weeks and is at its fullest by around week 8 of the course.

Maintenance — your call
After the initial course, maintenance is typically scheduled every 6 to 9 months. You decide whether to maintain, take a break, or stop. The skin returns to its baseline gradually if you stop — there's no “cliff” or worsening.
Combination Treatment
Where skin boosters sit alongside other treatments
Skin boosters work well alongside several other treatments, and we often recommend them as the foundation of a longer plan rather than a one-off:
- With anti-wrinkle treatment for static forehead lines — the booster helps with the skin-quality side that anti-wrinkle alone doesn't reach.
- As the foundation phase of our pre-wedding skin plan — booked 4 to 6 months before the wedding for foundation hydration, with maintenance closer to the date.
- Alongside microneedling for clients addressing skin quality more comprehensively — typically scheduled to avoid same-week treatment.
We don't use combination as a default. Where the picture genuinely calls for it, we'll explain why.
Aftercare
The first 7 days after each session
Most clients leave with small bumps at injection sites that settle within a few hours. The skin can feel tender or slightly swollen for the rest of the day. Bruising at injection points is possible and usually fades within 5–7 days.
For the rest of treatment day, avoid heavy exercise, makeup over the injection sites, prolonged heat, and strong skincare actives. Most other normal activity is fine.
We'll book your second session 4 weeks out so the skin has time to respond to the first treatment before we build on it.
